Pêra Rocha
A Portuguese variety originating in the municipality of Sintra, this Pear is cultivated mainly in the West region.
This fruit ha an oblong, ovate-pyriform shape, has a medium peduncle thas is not very flexible, its smooth, light yellow surface, has evident russet patches located primarily in the apical fossa and next to the peduncle, and a very little pronounced apical fossa.
The pulp is white, soft, juicy, grainy and the fruits in the harvest state must have a pulp hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 Kg/0.5 cm2, as well as the refractometric index that must be between 12 and 14% (Brix).
The caliber is small: 50 to 70 mm, which corresponds to a weight of 80 to 150 grams.
The harvest time for this variety is in the second half of August and its conservation with atmospheric-dynamic technology can last up to 10 months.
